During three tours in Combat with the 5th Regimental Combat Team, carried the BAR or Browning Automatic Rifle. When as Squad leader and Platoon Sgt, could have carried a Carbine, which is much lighter. But, after using the Carbine once in combat, swapped it with my BARman, to keep my weapon of choice.

The 5th RCT was the only Regiment after the Korean war allowed to place a Memorial in Arlington Cemetery. It is also the only Army Unit, which had a Marine write a book about.
