Description
Kronosaurus capturing prey. Artwork showing the early Cretaceous plesiosaur Kronosaurus queenslandicus capturing a Leptocleidus capensis plesiosaur on the surface of the sea. Plesiosaurs are an extinct group of marine reptiles that lived from the Jurassic (199 million years ago) until the end of the Cretaceous (65 million years ago). Kronosaurus grew to a length of 10 metres and probably fed on a diet of molluscs, fish and smaller plesiosaurs. Leptocleidus measured 3 metres long.
