Description
Lake O'Hara sits on the British Columbia side of the Great Divide. Its glacial waters will flow into the Pacific. Rain falling on the far side of the mountains rising a mile above and behind it will flow to the Arctic Ocean. Scared silly after losing our route on the ridge of the mountain on the right, we turned back 200 ft. below the summit. We were without ropes and there was a 1,500 ft exposure!
This is one of the premier hiking areas in Canada. Access is restricted to a limited number of day visitors and to those staying in the delightful Lake O'Hara Lodge, just visible on the shore of the vibrant blue lake.
