Las Vegas Nevada Mojave Desert Valley Of Fire Panorama
Photograph - Photography
Valley of Fire State Park is a Nevada State Park and it is the first one to be dedicated as such. It is located an hour away from the glitter of Las Vegas, and it is a prime hiking and photographing destination, as it contains a number of geological features worth admiring.
In this case I had hiked the mile it takes to cover the distance between the trail head alongside the road to the formation called the "Fire Wave" and I decided to look for new vantage points from where to photograph. I had to be very careful about where I was treading, as the desert environment is extremely fragile. So, looking for existing unofficial trails, I arrived at this point that overlooks the wash below (with the "Fire Wave" right in the center of the image), and shot a 6-photograph panorama of the area. When I processed it it reminded me of the photograph the various Mars missions have shot on the Red Planet.
Enjoy! And please preview individual areas of the photograph for quality. If you have a keen eye you will find my girlfriend taking a nap somewhere...
