Lazy Susan
Artist
Ken Powers
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
I went for something a little more simple with this piece while still maintaining a strong focus on light and shadow. Since this particular Black-Eyed Susan was hanging a little low, I decided to name it "Lazy Susan." I am sure the title has been used before but I still found it to be amusing. The original is 9.75"x13.75" in size and is painted with a combination of Rublev and Daniel Smith watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.

Really love this one Ken, very strong.
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you William! I don't find the Black-Eyed Susan to be too interesting so I really wanted to go bold with the light to add some pizzazz!

Frances Evans
Light and shadow is amazing, Ken. It really stands out!
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Frances! I wanted some really intense light in this. I always find yellows tough to work with but I think this one was successful.
Dessie Durham
Ken this a beautiful Lazy Susan, good lighting, the other flower gave the suggestion that that there were other Lazy Susan's in the group.
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Dessie! I added the other flower as an afterthought and I really think it adds to the composition nicely. Fun stuff!
Marsha Elliott
The lighting is soooo dramatic on this...gives it so much punch! Cute title, too.
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Marsha! I think the dramatic light really adds some punch to this flower.
