About Karen Burkland
After a series of life threatening and life changing events, my world was consumed by a severe and bleak depression. Climbing out of the abyss has been a challenge - sometimes, it's 1 step forward and 4 steps back. For a long long time, everything was cloaked in a suffocating stormy grey fog that wouldn't lift. Many days, my world was a midnight black. My loving family and friends coaxed, pulled, and pushed me forward. I have no idea how or why, but one day, I opened my eyes, and suddenly my world was saturated by color. Painting has helped me to learn to find and focus on memorable moments in life.
