Absolutely loved my print. The depth and details are spectacular and the quality of the print is fantastic. I framed this in a white frame and didn't have the exact size handy so kept the lower space intentionally open. I love how it came out.

I bought this for a friend who lived in France for many years. Now that she is back in the states she misses France her favorite country. When I spoke with her on the phone she absolutely loved it. It showed all the places she lived or visited. She loved that it had an antique flair. She is getting it framed when she can. This my gift for her to bring up her spirits. She has stage 4 cancer. We live in 2 different cities & are comrades & would do anything for each other. When I saw it in the website I knew I had to buy it. Great work. A big thank you for your talent & putting out there to buy your beautiful map!!!

Artist's Description

This is an image of the interior domed ceiling of the historic observatory building. Lick Observatory is the world's first permanently occupied mountain-top observatory. The observatory, was constructed between 1876 and 1887, from a bequest from James Lick of $700,000 (approximately $22 million in 2014 dollars). Lick, originally a carpenter and piano maker, chose the site atop Mount Hamilton and was buried there in 1887 under the future site of the telescope, with a brass tablet bearing the inscription, "Here lies the body of James Lick".

Lick additionally requested that Santa Clara County construct a "first-class road" to the summit, completed in 1876. All of the construction materials had to be brought to the site by horse and mule-drawn wagons, which could not negotiate a steep grade. To keep the grade below 6.5%, the road had to take a very winding and sinuous path, which the modern-day road still follows. Tradition maintains that this road has exactly 365 turns. The ful...

About Ginger Stein

The power of light - often juxtaposed with the lack of it in the shadows, is what permits any photographer to share his or her unique perspective of the world. Stories and moments captured through a lens. I share what impacts me, delights me, disturbs me. I specialize in land / waterscape, macro, black and white, architectural, and minimalist photography. It's difficult to explain why I find capturing the world around me so addictive - a rushing mountain waterfall surrounded by the brilliant colors of fall, the incredible microscopic beauty of a flower center, the graphic simplicity of an architectural element, the distorted reflection of one skyscraper in the windows of another, a violent purple sky traced by lightning are all part...
