There are some exceedingly generouspeople on FAA who share their time and knowledge, and Timothy Myles is one. He feels this mushroom may be Cortinarius collinitus. If you'd like to do more reading, visit this Wiki page.

I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

Mother Nature, I have so enjoyed exploring your portfolio...the collection of “mushrooms” is truly beautiful. This is among my favorites...LF My paternal grandmother was a chef and she would pick her own mushrooms for Christmas Eve. Although her heritage and cooking style was French, she would prepare a customary holiday feast for my grandfather who was Polish...kapusta was a savory soup of sauerkraut, cabbage yellow peas, spareribs , Reconstituted dried woodland mushrooms, onions and her Mixed herb pinches she would never divulge so her recipe was always the best. I have a sensitive palette and would most often come pretty close...and, I share my recipes!..:-)
Carol Senske replied:
My husband is Polish:>). Such great food - bet your Grandmom, since she had the French touch, made every morsel a delight:>) Thank you ever so much, Laurel:>). I'm playing "catch up" again so forgive the cut and paste. You honor me by browsing through so much of my portfolio!
