The artist is my son and is very talented. In high school he was accepted by Chicago Art Institute but couldn’t afford the tuition. He graduated from Fredonia State University with a Fine Art degree.
I based this piece on photographs that I took of the beautiful elk herd residing at the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. Naturally, the majestic bull elk draw the most attention. In this piece I wanted to focus on the graceful beauty of the ladies of the herd. I think it turned out quite well. Judy Garrett
Judy lives and works on a cattle ranch in Eastern Oregon with her husband, Mike, daughter, Becca, and their two Pugs, Lillie and Opie. Judy enjoys photographing and drawing the abundant wildlife and the western culture that Lake County in Oregon is famous for. Working in graphite pencil allows for beautiful detail and, for the artist, an increasing understanding of the subject as the work progresses. She has also detoured into colored pencil and enjoys the vibrant colors. With either medium, Judy loves the simplicity of a pencil in hand...its marks and movements on a paper revealing a work of art.
