Lovely light. The black and white contributes to the nostalgia of the piece by giving it a more timeless feel, I think. Congratulations on the 1st place win in the recent Children in Black and White Photography contest.

Brian Wallace replied:

Thank you Nikolyn, for your thoughtful comment. I appreciate it always!

Just love this photograph!

Brian Wallace replied:

Thank you for commenting Iryna. I have to admit that I prefer the color version over the grayscale in this case. :)

Beautiful light! Very nice shot!

Brian Wallace replied:

Thanks for commenting Clayton!

Absolutely magical little shot - I love this. Reminds me of when I was little :-)

Brian Wallace replied:

Thank you for the nice comment Jane!

Thanks Trish. I often like both versions of an image almost equally, but for different reasons. For me, each format carries it's own flavor and I get different feelings from each one. Usually for me, the grayscale enhances the artistic qualities especially for something simplistic with basically shapes, shadows and tones. I believe for certain "artistic" pieces, the color can sometimes get in the way of simplicity. For those pieces, color can be a distraction, rather than an enhancement.

Love the gray! has more feeling to me

Thanks Trish. I'm wondering... do you prefer this grayscale version or the color one?

looooove her!!

Roseann, thanks for featuring my image in the group "Black and White Art".

Thanks for the nice comment Laurinda! Her face was cute too, but I took the picture from a distance with a zoom lens as to not intrude on the family.

This is soo cute! Love it! Brings back memories of when my girl was little and fishing.

LOVELY COFFEE MUG !!!

July 13th, 2018

I haven't received the cup yet, but will be here any day now. Already, from this beautiful piece of art work, and how it is placed on the cup, it will be a fine addition to my cup collection from around the world. Sandy Keeton, I"m impressed.

About Brian Wallace

Brian Wallace

I'm a retired communications instructor/developer, raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (USA). I have a wide range of interests which include some artistic talent. My eclectic tastes, thirst for variety, and preference for images over words, eventually lead me through the internet to the world of 3D stereo in 2005. Since I've been with Fine Art America, I've focused primarily on regular photography with a touch of digital manipulation to better compose the images and ideas. Each time I think I've reached a peak, I find myself crossing another threshold that challenges my abilities and talents while paving way to another plateau.
