Description
Light micrograph of a single, multipolar nerve cell body from the inner grey matter of the human spinal cord. The three distinct processes leading away from the cell body on either side are dendrites, which form junctions with processes from other cells. Surrounding the neurone is a mass of supporting cells collectively termed the neuroglia, which lends both mechanical and metabolic support to the nerve cells. Magnification: x100 at 35mm size.
