The Virginia Museum of Transportation has one of the finest train collections in the United States. More than 50 transportation exhibits provide a broad view of Virginia's rich railway heritage. This picture was taken at the Virginia Museum of Transportation, Inc., Roanoke, Virginia.
Wabash E8 No. 1009: Norfolk Southern recently completed the cosmetic restoration of the Wabash No. 1009 located at the Virginia Museum of Transportation. The engine was the 10,000th diesel locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division.
About Greg Hager
I have been a photographer most of my life. I started in the 70s working on high school yearbooks. I have traveled to many countries and within the USA. I have spent many years developing film and pictures in photographic dark rooms, then switching to digital. I have developed a new appreciation for high-dynamic range (HDR) photography in which the majority of my photographs are processed. I have lived most of my life in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia near the Chesapeake Bay. I just moved to Saint Augustine, Florida and I am looking forward to a new adventure in my photography quest. All images and photographs are protected by copyright laws.
