Description
This is a lovely place to walk alone or with your dog, You can see the Walney Channel here, from the North End looking at Black Combe in the distance. Walney Island is connected to Barrow-in-Furness a Northern English town situated near the mouth of the Lake District, which happens to be where I was born! Here's some information about the mountain in the distance known as Black Combe. Apologies for the small sizes as this was this was taken years ago with a smaller mp camera!
Black Combe is one of the Lake Districts most iconic fells, its distinctive shape is often the first peak visible across Morecambe Bay from the M6. Between sea and mountains, from its summit you can see the kingdoms of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man on clear days. This area has inspired many of Lakelands great poets including William Wordsworth and Norman Nicholson.
