Secretariat, the stretch run, looking back, 1 1/2 mile ' Belmont Stakes, ' 1973, time 2:24. The race is widely considered the greatest performance of the twentieth century by a North American racehorse & the time still holds up today as the fastest time ever for the 1 mile & 1/2. The race is available on YouTube & is just as thrilling as the first time I watched it !
