A whimsically rendered youth peers over into deep blue waters in a dream-like landscape, ensconced by lilies, cozy little houses with windows. This piece is an inspirational reflection on the layers of life’s reality. There’s the surface appearance... then there’s the layer that can get kinda’ scary - looking at the darker strata of the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of situations. Then, for the brave, there’s a layer still deeper where one peers purposefully and asks the question, ‘What’s MY responsibility in this? That’s the most challenging but it’s also the most rewarding. To the degree we can honestly reflect on our own motives, prejudices and angst, to that degree we can begin to experience greater freedom. Truth does set us free.
