"Loon Take Off Aborted" is an original fine art wildlife photograph by Sandra Huston.
This image was captured while kayaking in July of 2006 on Woodbury Pond. I could not believe the wing span of these birds. Just before my kayak the loon folded its wings leaned back and slid to a stop. I was just about to drop my camera and paddle back as I was not sure if it would turn to the right or left of me. This year will make 10 years that I have been camping on Tacoma Lakes and photographing them each summer. It's a very humbling and exciting experience to earn their trust and be accepted among them and to be able to photograph and watch them raise their young each year.
