This old house is a graphite sketch using a photo from a wonderful photographer, Lisa Baker in Chandler, Arizona. The old abandoned and rustic appearance made it a "must do" drawing. Many thanks to Lisa for the use of her great talent and art work. Please browse her portfolio also at fineartamerica.com. The original was sold in 2019, prints are available.
I am a self taught artist. I am retired and sketch as a relaxing hobby. Born and raised in Kannapolis, NC (near Charlotte), I have always enjoyed sketching. Most of my work is of landscapes, probably due to the fact that I love just sitting and watching nature. I love to sketch old barns and houses while hiking in the mountains of NC. My hope is that my art will trigger a fond memory or just bring a smile to your face. After all that's what its all about, sharing the joy of art. I may be contacted via email at tonyclark761@yahoo.com.

Megan Walsh
Love this! Hey Tony how do you stop the pencil from smearing all over. I think I am pencil drawing challenged because if I draw the whole paper gets dirty, along with my hand. Oh well, Fv
Tony Clark replied:
Thanks Megan!! Lol , that is a common problem with graphite. It gets on your hand and goes everywhere. Use a separate sheet of paper to rest your hand on , plus some of the smudges are covered in the drawing itself after blending. A kneaded eraser is very useful once you are done for touching up unwanted marks or smudges. Remember , always start with a very light or "hard" pencil first , then get darker as you go with softer pencils.
Theresa Campbell

Thank you very much Theresa! With graphite, I feel like I can show more details. Its my favorite :)
