Lovely card
This image is a composite of many of my original photographs of the actual site of Louisbourg, all processed to look like old paintings of the period. The frames are textures and vintage 18th century as is the carpet. The wood panelling on the walls is also a texture. The table and lounge are taken from other photos of mine of rooms in Versailles near Paris and Catherine's Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, all correct to the period, as far as I can determine. I wanted to create a room that MIGHT have resembled something the governor of Louisbourg would have inhabited before the defeat by the British. In fact, there are some rooms in Louisbourg that were the governor's but this is not one of them, just a depiction.
The Fortress of Louisbourg is a National Historic Site of Canada and the location of a one-quarter partial reconstruction of an 18th-century French fortress at Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Its two sieges, especially that of 1758, were turning points...
I began photography with a Brownie camera my parents gave me as a child sometime in the 1950s. In the 1970s I finally graduated to an SLR and actually won a few contests, then took a hiatus through the 1990s but picked up digital photography in earnest in the mid-2000s. To me, photography is about capturing the hidden meaning, the emotion, and the invisible in a given moment in time. It transcends mere composition and lighting. When it's done well, we sit up and take notice, we pause over an image, and if everything is perfect, we might even feel that slight tingling up the spine. While I try...

Very well photographed interior, Doug! Beautiful paintings and furnishings. Also, your font well compliments the image! :) kk
Doug Matthews replied:
Thanks, Kathleen. The font is aquiline. The room actually started off with nothing at all in it - blank walls, ceiling, floor. I had way too much time on my hands : )
