My beloved dad, George Wood carved each of these works of art and many more. He carved them to give to friends and family and special people in his life to show them his and mom's appreciation for them. To make these even more amazing, he had terrible tremors in his hands. When a friend asked him how he does it, dad just smiled and said when he starts to carve the shaking just stops. He wrote a description to explain the origins of Love Spoons.
"Love Spoons
Love spoons originated in Wales in the 17th century. Originally made for utilitarian use, they soon became articles to be kept & admired. They developed Symbolic significance as young men made them while thinking about a young lady of their fancy. Seamen passed time away at sea again trying to show their devotion or Intentions for a lady.
