I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.
Artist's Description
Lucien Georges Bull (1876-1972), French scientist and chronophotography pioneer. Bull is seated in a laboratory at the Marey Institute, Paris, France, making adjustments to a string galvanometer of his design. Bull was born in Dublin, Ireland. In 1894, he settled in France and worked as assistant to French scientist Etienne-Jules Marey. Work carried out by Bull with string galvanometers included their use in sound-ranging devices in the First World War, and as electrometers in the 1930s. Bull became head of the Marey Institute in 1904. He was made an Officer of the Legion of Honour in 1954, and awarded the Prix Leconte (1955) from the French Academy of Sciences.
