Description
Lymphoproliferative disease. Light micrograph (LM) of a kidney section from a patient with renal post transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD). PTLD behaves like an aggressive lymphoma. Lymphoproliferative disorders are among the most serious complications of long-term immunosuppression for people who have organ transplants. With lymphoproliferative disorders, lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) are over-produced or act abnormally. Image shows large numbers of atypical lymphoid cells surrounding a glomerulus. Magnification: x 150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
