In October you are lucky if you can climb to Camp Muir on Mt Rainier and not have to worry significantly about weather. It was a calm day with some cold and wind but the views once above the clouds were...like this...spectacular. I got away with a bit of wind burn to my face and some half dollar size blisters...but within a week that all peeled and were well on their way to healed and look at the photos I have from that day...I'll take that trade any day.
About Mark Camp
At age 50, I decided to remake me; sure everyone thinks about changing their life from time to time, well I did it. I lost a lot of weight, and started looking for ways to stretch the new me. I found hiking and climbing in the local mountains in Western Washington. In my first year as the new me, I climbed many of the local 5,000 to 6,500 foot peaks many times, including summiting Mount St Helens and I climbed and summited Mount Rainier twice in a rather adventurous10 week period. In the process, I built strong friendships and even found that I enjoy climbing...with just me and my camera sometimes.
