Male mallard duck (Anas platyrhynchos). This dabbling duck is found throughout temperate and sub-tropical regions of North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. It is 56-65 centimetres in length with a wingspan between 81-98 centimetres. The mallard duck feeds mainly on aquatic vegetation. Photographed on Bruny Island, in Tasmania, Australia.
