His multi-media pieces, which also include work on canvas and glass are brought to life through bold colors, dazzling geometric shapes and patterns, and cover a wide range of subjects. Inspired and influenced by Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, and Peter Max, his collection pays homage to Abstract Expressionism, Cubism, and Pop Art and takes the viewer on a journey born from both reality and imagination. Wonderful and intriguing work Don! Every time I see your work I get a feeling of a story or mystery. You are amazing! vF
Don Koester replied:
GENEVIEVE I am touched by your kind comments Genevieve..(My favorite St. Louis artist) and the picture may be the cover of my COMPLETED 400 page novel THE MAN INTHE STRIPED FEDORA which I may publish myself? or try the big boys in NYC etc. A wickedly funny tale ala Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Latin (in Buenos Aires) literature so rich in imagery and story telling! You too AMAZE me Genevieve I hope to see you at the LET THEM EAT ART! in Maplewood (the land of my youth) Best to you ALWAYS my dear!
Randy Burns
How interesting and wonderful about your upcoming novel Don. This is a great illustration and lead in to the work. F/L.
Don Koester replied:
RANDY I have already completed a 350 pg novel which I am debating how to publish...To trust or not to trust the NYC Hollywood Media agents etc...May self publish but that is a long hard road...The novel is about a Buenos Aires scoundrel in the 90s who finally gets apprehended after many yrs of crime and tittilating adventures which confound the reader accusing him/her of being just as evil as the narrator himself...self justification I guess you might say since everyone has the POTENTIAL to become a criminal if small things lead to worse etc...Also very humorous (I hope!) and part of Latin Literature like Puig and Gabriel Garcia Marquez....Stay free!
