The ferries between the town in the Cinque Terre region of Italy only run in the summer and only when the seas are calm enough for the boats to dock at the somewhat exposed moorings. After many trips to Cinque Terre, I finally had a day when the weather and hiking activities all worked to allow the trip to be made. It’s a leisurely and wonderful way to see the region. This is a view of Manarola as the boat neared the dock. In 1997, the entire Cinque Terre area was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
