This commission piece portrays the little cliffside Italian village of Manarola within the Cinque Terre National Park. Manarola is the second town in the "Five Towns" region of this area. Fishing and wine-making are the primary industries and the local wine is called Sciacchetra. This is a popular tourist destination, especially in the summer time. The couple requesting this piece are actually walking along the rocky shore down below the balcony and near the village proper. They will be returning to the romantic patio shortly to enjoy a glass of Chianti and a bit of food while they take in the amazing sunset on the water of the bay as the stars begin to twinkle in the dark blue sky above.
