Twice a year, the street grid of Manhattan lines up so that the sun seems to set right on the cross streets. When this event occurs, large crowds of people gather to photograph, experience and share the event. It creates a surreal scene for native New Yorkers, who, because of tall buildings all around, do not often see the sun set on the horizon.
