A gorgeous B&W photographic accomplishment. Like the contrasting angles & shaded textures.

Bob Lentz

Congratulations! This simple and essential image has been selected by group members as a Featured Image in the Best of Minimalism group.

Nikolyn McDonald

Much drama in this piece - the processing is as strong as the apparently massive structure. This is one of my two pod's in the Best of Minimalism group for January 17.

Mitch Spence

I think this is especially strong in black and white, Scott, and the light rays are wonderful. This is a pod choice for me today in the Best of Minimalism group.

Beautiful picture!

Perfectly executed! High quality. It was a prize for a contest but I wish I could have kept it!

Great comments for all the items I have ordered. I gave most of the items to relatives as gifts. The pictures by Linda get great raves. People like the fact that I actually know the person that took the pictures. The beach towels I ordered for myself to use at my fitness classes with super comments.

David Lloyd Glover did an outstanding presentation in capturing the "King of Cool!" Also, I had to have the matching designer pouch! I am inquiring with my seamstress, if she can make this into a crossbody purse!

Artist's Description

A high contrast minimalist black and white photograph of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I was struck by how the backside of this building (a performing arts center), was so imposing and sort of ominous. Of course, it didn't help that the day was cold and overcast. Taken in the early afternoon, the sky was white. I wanted a dark feel, so I made the sky black and added the streaks. I also did a lot of digital dodging and burning to bring the focal point to the corners of the two tiers of the structure. I purposely did not make the vertical lines of the corners perfectly straight up and down to add to the dark feel. Taken January 10, 2018. About Scott Norris

Scott Norris

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. Much of what I shoot is done spontaneously without preconceived thought or plan. I let what is around me dictate what is photographed. And the shooting is only the first step - a jumping off point. I take the raw images and create what I see in my mind's eye. Coaxing out textures present in the shot - sometimes adding them. Enhancing the contrast of light and dark to create the mood and emotions I felt and feel. In the end, it's all about listening to my heart and mind...
