A snake and a squatting snake charmer in the Jemaa el-Fnaa square and market place in the medina of Marrakech, Morocco. I confess to having very ambivalent feelings about taking this photo and including it in my gallery. An internet search of Marrakech snake charmers turns up too many articles about animal cruelty, along with a few isolated ones about a snake striking back. I abhor animal cruelty so being a part of it is disturbing. On the other hand, part of the joy of travel photography is capturing aspects of the different cultures around the world, and the Marrakech snake charmers are beyond doubt a part of Morocco's culture and heritage, so I decided to include this photograph.
