Description
This mural, one of over 80 lining the road to the civilian/military shared airbase, was documented during the 2011 Summer Expedition to Kuwait and Iraq. This work features the rare culture of the Marsh Arabs which were nearly wiped out with Saddam's obsession with westernization and building despite the costs to his people. With the execution of Saddam for war crimes, the Marsh Arabs are making a remarkable comeback and the wetlands of Basrah continue to flourish.
