Great job on the detail of the rust and the woodwork.

Ken Powers replied:

Thank you very much Vicki! This was a really fun one!

Wow! This is lovely Ken (as is all your work!). I love your colour palette and greatly admire your skill; you have a wonderful eye for detail. Thank you so much for your kind comment too - its very encouraging and really very much appreciated.

Ken, Your magic with the brush and paint works so well to capture the essence of an object. It brings out beauty never seen that has been there all the time... But with your discerning eye, and magic touch you enlighten us and bring forth innate beauty in everyday things. Thanks for your comment about "Winter Gossip", my snow picture.

Very 3D Ken,...I think I found another favorite -- truely amazing my friend. . .............Joe

Hi Ken. Thanks for the comments on my painting. I am very impressed with your work and your subject matter is wonderful and quiet refreshing. Keep up the good work. Sorry, I can't decide which are my favourite, so I am just going to say I like them ALL!

Nice work. You have a lovely soft palette.

Yes! Definitely quite the beautiful painting. Those soft, reddish peach colors again. It all seems to work very well.

Wow, Ken, this is really REALLY cool. LOVE the colors. Looks better than the real thing!!!! :) P.S. Where did you come up with that title? ha!

Absolutely beautiful. Haven't chosen the perfect spot to display it yet, but it's a wonderful work of art I'm proud to display both for it's artistry and subject.

Bought for a fellow Navy veteran. He was beyond pleased, and so am I. Being able to choose such a unique mounting made the gift even "giftier" since it's so unique. Thanks - very pleased.

Sadly didn't turn out as nice as I had hoped. The picture is printed faintly and is hard to see well. Shipping and packaging was good.

Artist's Description

This old lock was painted from a photograph supplied to me by Marsha Elliott: I tried something a little different in that I didn't put in any hard edged shadows like I have in most of my work. I also exaggerated many of the colors in the wooden planks in order to add additional interest. It is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper.
