This painting celebrates the Catholic tradition of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Instead of the traditional use of a crown, here I show Jesus, her Son, bestowing the honor with a kiss in reverence of his love for his mother. Christ is creator of all, shown here in the elements of fire, water, air...and Mary as one of his earthen creatures.
