This storm hit our camp at about sundown on Friday, August 3, 2012. Starting out as a weak looking set of ropy clouds, it quickly built up some impressive straight line winds (shots of the campers holding down their tents later) which lasted at their strongest for something like forever--probably 15-25 minutes in actuality. The wind continued at a sustained 20-30 mph for the rest of the night, and then Saturday was downright cool up until about 11 a.m.
We heard a lot of conflicting reports, but the official story is during this storm someone on a raft disappeared in the lake; a body was recovered Sunday. On our beach someone's swamped boat washed up.
