Description
Exposed while I was Artist In Residence at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in April, 2010. Medano Creek is seasonal and had only reached the dune parking lot a few days before. When I left two weeks later it flowed another mile or so to the west. It will begin retreating in July and is usually dry in August. At this time it was only a few inches deep but almost 50 yards wide and very cold since this is fed by the melting snows in the mountains.
