One of my youngest childhood memories around flowers as of the Buttercup. The buttercup is a flower found in late spring and early summer. It has a yellow cup like shape. It is a wildflower and returns each year. When I was at our cottage as a child, we would play with buttercups. We would pick them for our tea parties and decorate our dolls hair with them. However, one of my most vivid memories that I am sure a lot will relate to is the story my mom told me. We would pick a fresh Buttercup and then go to one of our friends or even my parents. I would then hold a fresh buttercup flower under the chin of that person. If there was a yellow reflection under the chin, then that meant that the person "liked butter". We did not understand how it worked, but it was magic. We did not understand then that it would show how buttercup petals reflect light, instead we would delight in the fact that that person liked butter.
The Buttercup flower belong to a plant family named Ranuncula...
Throughout my life I have always felt the most comfortable when surrounded by nature. With my photography I am trying to capture those feelings that I have, so that I can share them with others. I strive to feature the beauty in all of nature and also the places that I love to visit or explore. The ingredients for my photography may be the simplicity of a single flower from my garden, the vastness of the ocean, antiques from a long ago era or the delightful architecture of past eras.
