B-26 Marauder bombers fitted with torpedoes attacking the Japanese fleet during the Battle of Midway. First Lieutenant James Muri piloting 'Susie-Q' released his torpedo from an altitude of 150 feet. In a last second decision in an attempt to avoid being hit by the heavy anti-aircraft fire, Muri turned and flew down the length of the flight deck of his target, the aircraft carrier Akagi, gunners strafing as they buzzed the deck at low level.
