The artistic rendering of the human figure represents one of the greatest challenges for the artist, as well as one of the realms in which an artist can continuously push their skills. In the spirit of the old masters, I present an ongoing series of my studies of the human form, in a variety of mediums including charcoal and pencil.

These studies focus on the endless possibilities for expression and beauty found in the human form, and a fascination with how light dances and plays on the forms of the body. I try to focus on how simple gesture and movement, at the heart of each composition, carry the eye through an exploration of the subtleties of mood. Finally, the artistic rendering of the nude form exposes the essential qualities of our own humanness, the forms within which we all live.
