These are mylar reflection abstracts. Mylar is a very thin, highly reflective film used in greenhouses and grow rooms to direct unused light back to the growing space. I saw an article online years ago about using mylar for close-up and macro work in photography and had to try it. The thin film wrinkle easily and it was difficult to get the 'creases' to stay where you wanted them but I did manage to get some interesting images. I eventually held a class at a local camera club using this method for studio work.

I discovered an interest in art in the early 1970's and first began working with oils. While working full time and raising 5 children I studied drawing and painting at a local art gallery and at evening classes at the local community college. My busy life overtook my time for art until 1990 when I joined a local camera club with my husband. I quickly realized how important and satisfying a camera lens could be. In 1992 I won a gold medal in international camera club competition for work I did using mylar and flowers as my subjects.
