Thank you, Fine Art America, for this very strongly reproduced work of Mark Ashkenazi. Displayed in the gym room in my home, it never fails to inspire me. Thank you, also to Mark for creating this artwork.

The picture is beautiful as are all of Spencer Meagher's works. It is a wedding gift to a couple who spent their honeymoon in the area where this picture was painted. So I will be unable to supply you with a photo. But I can tell you I am very pleased with the painting and I have high hopes the happy couple will be as well.

This was my second metal print and I have not been disappointed. Quality is first class on both my metal pictures. They are glossy as metal prints are. I do love them but am hoping maybe some non-glare metal prints will also be available in the future. But for now, these are really very very nice and good not to have to mat and frame everything. They are ready to hang right out of the box and really do look sharp on the wall.

Artist's Description

This picture has been painted from pictures taken from my travels through a rural southwest India. ‘Nandi’ as bulls are referred to in certain parts of India are considered sacred for its connotation as the mount of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology. This bullock at work on an ancient piece of wooden sugarcane juicer (kolu) exuded a certain peace and calm in the way he walked around in circles – in strong gentle strides and eyes half open. I was fascinated both by his size and eyes which opened in pleasure when given the sugarcane husks as treat after completion of every other juicing cycle. This magnificent animal seemed to radiate an aura of tranquility and acceptance which is so often lacking in humans. His response to his owner’s petting was a gentle bow with those beautiful ‘Buddha-eyes’ half closed - again waiting for the next round of juicing sugarcane. Through my artwork I aimed to capture the simplicity of emotions reflected on his face and characteristic quality of his being at...

About Soma Mandal Datta

Soma Mandal Datta

Designer-artist from Perth, Australia Soma’s paintings explore the phenomenon of ‘journey’ as a metaphorical interpretation of life and its experiences. What began as her personal journey of healing and experimentation has translated into nostalgic paintings from her travels, fascinating objects and nature that implores people to re-think on their own life’s journeys, lessons or remember their roots. Her paintings also embody her spiritual perspectives on the process of ‘creation’ using familiar imagery from ‘life- a journey’, allowing for a connection between our unique perceptions and explorations. Her philosophy in life as in art is to enjoy the journey (of creation) rather than emphasis on the destination (finished...
