I ordered this tote bag for myself and I love it. The colors are vivid and crisp. The fabric and handles are sturdy. I have already gotten several complements from others as I run my errands. They ask where I got it and I direct them to your website and give them the artist’s name. Glad I bought it.

This tote bag will be a December birthday gift for a family member. I was so pleased with it when I opened the package to inspect it. The colors were true to the picture on the website. The bag is sturdy and should hold up well. I’m happy with this purchase.

We love this image and proudly display it wherever we go. However, we actually prefer a smaller size. So... we ordered SIX more bags as Xmas gifts for all the women in the family. Six different images. And now we are going to order two more! My mom loves them so much, she can’t bear to part with them! Also, we were initially unaware that we could scale the images! We are delighted with these bags and know they will be a big hit at Christmas!

Artist's Description

This picture has been painted from pictures taken from my travels through a rural southwest India. Nandi as bulls are referred to in certain parts of India are considered sacred for its connotation as the mount of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology. This bullock at work on an ancient piece of wooden sugarcane juicer (kolu) exuded a certain peace and calm in the way he walked around in circles in strong gentle strides and eyes half open. I was fascinated both by his size and eyes which opened in pleasure when given the sugarcane husks as treat after completion of every other juicing cycle. This magnificent animal seemed to radiate an aura of tranquility and acceptance which is so often lacking in humans. His response to his owners petting was a gentle bow with those beautiful Buddha-eyes half closed - again waiting for the next round of juicing sugarcane. Through my artwork I aimed to capture the simplicity of emotions reflected on his face and characteristic quality of his being at...

About Soma Mandal Datta

Designer-artist from Perth, Australia Somas paintings explore the phenomenon of journey as a metaphorical interpretation of life and its experiences. What began as her personal journey of healing and experimentation has translated into nostalgic paintings from her travels, fascinating objects and nature that implores people to re-think on their own lifes journeys, lessons or remember their roots. Her paintings also embody her spiritual perspectives on the process of creation using familiar imagery from life- a journey, allowing for a connection between our unique perceptions and explorations. Her philosophy in life as in art is to enjoy the journey (of creation) rather than emphasis on the destination (finished...
