This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

Artist's Description
Nano technology is the science of the very small, and nanobots are nano size robots. These bio/mechanical nano seeds are bubbling in their primordial nano soup in the lower right as some more developed embryo-bots are bursting forth into the great blue stream of a nano universe unknown to them previously. The green "critter" left center with the gears and chain and a tail on the left is a nanobot hatching (ugly pud, that) and another smaller greeny may be seen emerging from its nanoshell in the center right while its fellow nanos skitter and scatter about to the nether regions.
Creation tip: on my 2nd ink pass layer to develop the big nanobot I used an imprint from a rectangular tin that a Chico's gift cards came in. The tail imprint was created using a broken rubber band the cat had chewed. The embryos were created using different diameter rubber hose, dipping them in ink and using them to make a monoprint on the clayboard. I wasn't looking for perfect circles. I want...
About James Douglas Draper
After 30 years as a senior design engineer in the automotive field I missed the creative aspects that some parts of my job entailed. Years earlier before career and business became paramount I had done portrait work of grade school mates in charcoal and fun work in pastels, along with Currier & Ives style oil painting later on. I wanted to break free from those constraints that engineering tends to impose and develop my own body of abstract work that I could continue to evolve in a multitude of directions as the spirit and materials moved me. I work interchangeably with various types of inks, watercolors, acrylics and collage elements on watercolor paper, Yupo paper, masonite, claybord and canvas. Many of my pieces start by adding...
