Description
Near East Bronze Age axes. Considerable effort and skill went into the design and creation of Near Eastern shaft-hole axes in the region of Iran including Luristan in the Second Millennium BC. The axes here had a variety of aggressive military functions from votive, to cutting, crushing or puncturing. To accommodate the central shaft hole, most such weapons were made as a single piece using the lost wax method. The exception may be the lugged axe from Canaan, third down, which may have been a general tool.
