In this painting I have kind of willfully tweaked the rendering of visual depth. So the multi-colored strips of crops tend to look like they are rising like a wallpaper straight up from the church. Part of the motive for this is that I have a genuine point of difficulty in depth perception (the physical type---hopefully not in terms of the more important, intangible manifestation of 'depth'!). The same quality which resulted in falls and skinned knees as a child now becomes more interesting when playfully applied to art. This painting is done in a moderate impasto. I'll be glad to respond to any requests for similarly rendered reproductions of the initial work shown here.
