Description
Neurons, live/dead assay. Ultraviolet (UV) light micrograph showing a culture of NT2 neurons at three different times after exposure to an experimental reduction in blood supply (ischaemia). Left to right 0 hours, 4 hours, 24 hours. The live/dead assay technique uses a stain that shows living and dying cells in two different colours when viewed under UV light. In this case dying cells are shown in red, and living cells in green. NT2 cells are a human teratocarcinoma (cancer) cell line, capable of differentiation into nerve cells. Magnification x200 at 10 centimetres wide.
