I had held off purchasing any Super Bowl LVIII collectibles or memorabilia until I found something that I thought was just “awesome”. When I saw this SI Cover, I knew I had to have it. Honestly it’s one of the best photos I’ve ever seen. Along with the captions it captures what Super Bowl LVIII was all about. Your Photog was in the right place at the right time and did a great job of capturing what Chiefs fans all across the country felt at that moment. As you can see I had the perfect place for it, it makes this wall complete and up to date.

Narrative: Hair straightening became so popular that it evolved from a style option to a norm, and tightly coiled, kinky hair for women became a shameful taboo. So cutting away years of chemically-straightened hair down to the untreated roots can be a little frightening as well as liberating for black women. I cut my hair in 1999 and have not chemically straightened it since.
About Karmella Haynes
The future is now. So-called magic is all around us. I am inspired by surrealism, afro-futurism, and Yoruba/Santeria. I am also inspired by artistic abstractions of physics, biology, and chemistry that scientists like myself use to communicate things that are not immediately obvious to many people. Fiction is an unnecessary distraction. Seemingly mundane facets of our real world are actually amazing. My full-time job is an assistant professor of biomedical engineering and synthetic biology at Arizona State University. I have been painting since I was 11 years old.
