My memories of New Orleans and its music scene are all pre Covid. I first visited the city after learning of the annual French Quarter Music Fest. I was there for one day but was hooked and subsequent trips were for the duration of the event, usually held from Thursday night into Sunday.
The music covers all genres and there will be buskers waiting to serenade you, bands on street corners, bigger bands on large outdoor stages and virtually every bar and nightclub will have live entertainment. Maisons is a favorite of mine.
The fact that I love food is also a contributing factor to my desire to visit there. Spicy and decadent will get me every time! In fact Jackson Square culminates with both music and food tents from many of the city's establishments. Art vendors display their works, and their are other talented people and acts as well.
The French Quarter Music Fest takes place this year September 30th thru Oct 03rd 2021. It is also a free event.
