Nola's Unicorn is a 36”x24” acrylic on hardboard. The painting was inspired by one of the Avonelle’s short stories, Of Unicorns and Peacocks. However the piece got its name from a family habit of claiming paintings in the gallery as their own for taking sometime in the future. Horse and unicorn paintings were often taken by Avonelle's oldest daughter, August, an avid equine addict. Thus, a soon as I (Nola) saw this painting I launched a long, and mildly irritating, multi-year campaign to let everyone know that this one was Nola's Unicorn. Ironically, when I later moved over seas I gifted the painting to August. Sigh.
