When will I get my order???
Along the North Carolina coast a series of barrier Islands known as the Outer Banks just about completely block access to the mainland, presenting an intricate labyrinth of inlets, sounds, and hazards. As if that weren't enough, two opposite and opposing currents collide, the cold arctic south flowing Labrador Current and the north-flowing warm Gulf Current, resulting in rough waters and unpredictable currents. Shallow sandbars form, known as the Diamond Shoals, creating a minefield for marine navigators. The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau lists some three-thousand plus shipwrecks along the stretch of coast from Kitty Hawk to Ocracoke since records began!

Beautiful colors and two fine points of interest to draw the eye - the sun and the ship. Congratulations on your tie for1st place in the recent Sunrise Sunset contest.

Thanks so much, Debra, Rebecca, Dianna, and Barbie! Definitely sad to see the boat beached and no remedy for it to get back to sea. I felt somewhat conflicted about photographing it as such. However, it did tell a real story about the area and the dangers of its shoals: hence the notorious nickname "Graveyard of the Atlantic" for the many shipwrecks that occurred here in history because of the convergence of two major currents and the topography that creates.
