This eastern grey squirrel was onl the branchjof an oak tree in a yard in Riverview, Florida.
The eastern grey squirrel (sciurus carolinensis) is found from Brunswick to Manitoba in Canada, south to eastern Texas and over to Florida. They have been introduced to Ireland, Britain, Italy, South Africa, and Australia. Look for them anywhere there are nut bearing trees. They eat tree bark,buds, berries, seeds, nuts, and some fungi. If really hungry they will eat frogs, eggs and small birds.
