Thank you John. The painting has an under painting of watercolor on a slick surface. Yupo. I used heavy applications of acrylic paint straight from the tubes and developed the texture by laying another sheet of Yupi on top of the wet painting. Manipulating the top sheet of Yupo in a pull up, lay back down on top of the wet acrylic, motion (repeatedly until the texture was well developed ) created the cratered texture. The bold gold was a wonderful ploy to the dioxide purple acrylic, in that it created the sense of depth and feeling of upward opening. I often begin my paintings with the intention to "play" with a particular color or colors. As I lay the paint on the Yupo surface, I'm aware of a particular mood developing. I follow that mood and sometimes find it possible to depict the "inexpressible."

Incredible work. The colors and textures are crazy cool!

Thank you Heather! It remains a favorite of mine!

Thank you Anna for the positive feedback. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this painting. To achieve the sense of depth and light, it was necessary to apply a dozen or more layers of glaze.
